Over the last 10 years or so,I've used a coating... (VERY light, with a modeling paintbrush, after cleaning everything !!).. of STP oil treatment on all my battery posts.
A friend of mine told me about this and I have since put it to the test and I have achieved amazing results. I Have been doing it on the B every year since I got it.
Last year I did (cleaned) the green corroding posts on my wifes Honda Accord and it now does not show a green furry growth at the connections. I had cleaned them once and not used the STP and did it the second time, when green corrosion began happening again.
Since I did it there has not been any corrosion.
Get everything bolted together like it should be and take the CAP off the STP jug and use the residue on the aluminum seal and not much more and a modelling paintbrush and paint it lightly on the top of the lead surfaces.. and i do mean lightly..It doesn't take much at all..Paint all the surfaces and then wipe it off with a clean cloth.
Dab a little where the exposed copper strands are right at the battery clamps and it will migrate down the wires and make them corrosion resistant down into the wire a ways.
This stuff works!
Just my humble advice folks:)-D

Good timing. I just disconected the battery today to do some work on the car and the termials looked really bad. I'm game I'll give it a shot. Thanks for the tip.
I've been using Vasoline, for this job, for quite some time. It does the job very well and costs next to nothing. However, if your battery is burning oil, STP is the ticket. RAY
I have used a black tarry-looking substance called "Korrosion-Kure" or something like that. Comes in a small can like Permatex. You don't even have to use the bicarb cleaning solution...just dab it on with the attached dabber and it will penetrate, kill the corrosion, and act to protect the connection.
Vaseline or any such substance should work as well or better for sure, you just gotta keep the air from getting to it I think.
STP was just what I was told works great and it really does too.(tu)There's always enough residue in the jugs to keep them for stuff like that,I just turn 1 upside down somewhere and when i need a dab there's always enough in the cap.

I may be tempted to try a Seafoam treatment if the Battery was actually burning oil or just had stuck rings before I turfed it though....LOL:)-D

NEVER do WD-40! Learned that lesson on my pickup a few years ago. Wouldn't run worth a crap, had to clean it off and go back to dielectric grease.
Hello from the UK,
Vasaline is the order of the day over the pond, its cheap, it works and you normally have some lying around the house ! why pay out for expensive market products?
Stuck rings in a battery? Must be one of them new fangeled spiral cell technology thingies. RAY
Lanotec (brand name)is good for a multitude of uses including corrosion protection, i have been using it on the battery terminals for years. Check the web site.
Cheers
Rodger.
My Dad used my Moms hair spray, and always put a penny on top of the battery. Back in the 60's...
I remove the Lead Battery cable 'clamps', and replace them with
Brass 'clamps'.
They are available at most Auto supply stores.
I have used anti-seize compound for years, but.........
I'll give it a try.......
Many sprays 'hide' the corrosion..........
