Bacon and eggs
A drive to the Mecca to pick up some bits then to the machine shop to put the head together.
About five miles from the Mecca on the A11...heavy pinking and a billow of smoke.
It was definitely worse at speed and with throttle so I kept it at light throttle and glided to the Mecca.
Oil burping out the oil fill cap. Unable to hold idle. Russell's diagnosis-broken oil ring in one of the pistons.
I still did the machine shop...it was a privilege to watch a master of his craft at work.
Limped home...was passed by everything...even a caravan towed by a ridiculously small car.
I've got the RB up on stands in the garage.
The head will come off, I'll drop the sump, remove the pistons and see how it looks.
The day started so well...

My condolences.
But fate still smiles upon you dear friend. could there ever, EVER be a place better qualified to break down at (!!) than the epicenter of the southeastern MG trade? Hmmm?
And you still limped home. Tragic but marvelous.
Wish I could give you a hand...
After 4(ish) p.m. EST I will be home and on standby for phone-a-friend. And just think, you have another in your fleet to give the old boy a needed rest.
You are so G.D. hooked up it kills me.
Landon
