Still working on putting the Midg back together after the paint/body work. I got quite a bit done this weekend on the interior. I cut some carpet from Wal-Mart (heavy black runner carpet with rubber btm) so that will do untill next year I hope. My seats are original and pretty nice considering. I plan on working under the hood this winter to get some oil leaks rectified.
Q: I have a major resonating rattle (idle rpm) at the bottom of the down tube exhaust pipe, I don't see any thing to make such a rattle here but if I press against it with my shoe just behind front tire, rattle stops. Any ideas?

Looking good!
I have to say, every time I see you post, I have to open your avatar and take a look!
The rattle could be where the header joins the exhaust. I think there should be a hanger/support up near the front too.
Stop posting pix like that. You're making me suffer from more than one of the 7 deadly sins...mostly lust and envy.

So your a fan of the round head lights too!:D
Craig, your ride is pretty sweet too. Is your interior Tan?
There's no exhst hanger up front on mine, I checked. The center hanger is very tight. I may just drop the whole thing
friday and sand and repaint flat black and see what happens. Other than this noise, she runs as smooth as the two Mahullagawangas in my avatar.
restore is coming along? looks like you are done !!!
car looks great !
You just need a side view mirror and she's road ready....:D

Sweet baby Jesus! That is one fine looking car!
I also had a rattle on the exhaust pipe. It was occasionally touching the transmission during idle. Had Midas bend it a little bit. It helped. Good luck!
If you run a brace from the trans mount bolts to the exhaust you will probably stop the rattle and also prevent the exhaust pipe from breaking at the connection too. I made one out of a 1 foot piece of EMT pipe (cheap stuff that the hardware store sells for about a buck for 10 feet. I drill three holes in it, one for the tranny/engine flange and 2 for an exhaust clamp that goes around the pipe. Works for years and is cheap.
I also like ALL of your avatars and spend WAY too much time on your postings!! :)

That's one sweet ride! It'll turn heads and possibly bring some of those other head turners to your car.
Check all the bolts and the rest of what has been suggested. Might be, the gasket has burned through?
Sprite Lou has the same avatar. I bought a blue Sprite with stripes off of him. You made me look twice. Thought it was an old post or a glitch or something.

The seats are tan...the rest is black. Car was originally white and has a crappy paint job that's flaked off rather a lot on one fender - my avatar, um, cheats :eyepop: . I've had it for 20 years and never had the bodywork done it deserves...I want it white again with a blue stripe and black interior. Someday. But I keep her running and on the road terrifying the locals. Hey, somebody's got to do it.
Looking great and making me want to go into my garage @ 11:30 at night!
hey slow ride where are you in loganville, I am in auburn around the corner. How much work did you do to your car, did you do the full monty? I am in the middle of a total restro of a 79.
Im in the S side of Loganville near 138 and 81. Most of the rust was on the outer body within the sills and lower fenders. I did some grinding but decided I didn't have the proper facility to do paint so I sent it to a guy in Oxford. He did a jam up job for the $. I did get the electricals and engine working again after sitting for many years in the PO's garage. I'll send you a pm with my contact info, maybe you can come buy and see her one day if it ever STOPs raining!!!! :(
