At the top there is a big blue bar that shows the site I'm looking at. Under that is another bar which shows the same with a back button, refresh, etc. and then under that are the sites I frequent most often and then other that is another bar that says pretty much the same as that blue one at the top. All that takes up about a quarter of the screen.

Is there a way to just have that one line which has the back button, refresh button, and sites? I'd sure have much more viewing area? Looking forward to your reply,

Your turn :)

The uppermost blue bar is a standard frame for any window. The next two are pretty much standard bars for manipulating the items on the main window. You'll want the arrows, refresh, stop toolbar along with the ones that say File, Edit, View, etc. I can't read what the next two say or are, but off the top of my head, click on VIEW, then Toolbars, then look at the resulting list and uncheck what you don't want.

You can also try hitting F11 it will remove the a few of the upper and the lower bars. Me, I keep mine looking like your photo shot since I like to see the status and make sure what is loading or trying to.

Na: as mentioned F11 will give you a full screen view of the web page you are working on, if you need to type in a new address you hit F11 again and you address and other tool bars will reappear.

I don't know what size monitor you are using, but maybe if you could change your video "resolution" . You would get more information showing on your "real estate" screen with higher resolution. Everything would be smaller though.

Jack: Which browser are you using? Unless you have remapped the function keys the F11 key "should" give you full screen with IE.

Jack it appears you and I are just beginnings and these guys are professionals. I'm still willing to learn though :)
