Someone posts about hanging ceiling tiles in their garage, and a banner ad for ceiling tiles pops up between posts. Someone asks about collector car insurance, and a Travelers auto insurance ad shows up between posts. Wait, that's ok - I work for them.

Anyway, what has Skye got working that the program recognizes key words in the subject line and links them to advertising? Very slick, and only a tad 'Big Brother'

You only just noticed that? Chances are that if I write RUSSIA RUSSIA RUSSIA, before you know it there'll be an ad about dating Russian women appear below!

I think it is really sometimes what pops up. This is a Google feature I believe. I have a gold membership but I keep it for the entertainment.

It's called Google Adsense: https://www.google.com/adsense
It's how Google makes the majority of their money. The advertiser pays x amount per click, Skye gets y amount per click, and Google pocket the difference to pay their zoo of PhD holders to come up with even more nifty concepts like it...

I posted about this a couple of years ago Julian. It freaks me out too.

Just think about this....If you pay for it the ads go away, but do you think that the "thought tracing" is gone too?

Not likely, and the really bad part of that is that you won't even have a clue that it is going on.

Remember, every single computer has an easily traceable signature and every time you access the Internet where ever you go you leave some sort of record that you have been there.
