I know you never get done with a B, especially if you review this forum and see everything you folks do to your cars, but between the PO and I, we have put over $20 grand in this one and I wonder if there are others that have loss control like this and to what degree? I am hoping my grandson will appreciate all that has gone in this B in a few years.
I am looking for another B and this time I want to start with an overdrive and chrome bumpers. My plans may upset some, but that's life, I am planning to paint this one candy apple red with a white interior, but black carpet. I wondered if anyone had pictures of a candy apple red B or a B with a white interior?
Thanks, Phil

$20K? Heck, you're just STARTING ;)
Seriously, in dollars alone I've "only" put $8k into my "B" and it looks like a wreck. It would take another $5k to look decent. Show quality? Let us not kid ourselves.
If we talk hours spent, then there must be over $20k in it already.
Fortunately, I consider it fun to work on and part of annual "maintenance" so teh money spent isn't the deciding factor.
Lets just agree that there is no way I'd ever realize what I've invested.
If your not a do-it-yourselfer $20k is easy, especially if all the resto work is done properly.
Just to put a word in for the opposite side of the coin, I've got little kids who will someday go to college, so my car budget is about nil. I like to buy driveable, presentable MGBs (or Sprites or Marinas) for $1500 or so, then give them a good cleaning, tune the engine, top off the fluids and then simply go with it. My wife drives the MGB to work every day and I drive the Marina to work every day (I take the kids to school). Tune them up and treat them nice and you barely have to spend any money on them. (The cars, I mean, not the wife or kids - they take a lot of money!)
That said, if I had the budget I might do exactly what you "rich" guys have done with your Bs!
Lets see... I paid about 3K for my '63 three years ago. Counting about another 3K for various tops and clutches and tune-ups and tires and and and... I'll hit your 20K sooner than I thought. I just hope the wife doesn't ever find this sight!
It's a fever with no cure.........wait.....is death a cure? hmmmmm
I've got a '74B, '76B, and '52TD.............and I'm eyeing a '74 parts car with overdrive................somebody shoot me!
