I suppose there can be a fine line between something that is personal and public, or the difference between something that is interesting to one or two chaps or an entire community...

A wee bit of poetic license has been taken here, but very, very, little.

I apoligise if this is not entirely "On Topic" but I think in a roundabout sort of way it is...but first allow me prepare to say a very genuine thank you to Skye for this site.

Most of you know Hunts...Hunts just sent me a photograph that was taken in the summer of 1984. I'll post it (you may have a bit of a laugh) here and the lad on the left is in fact Hunts and the one on the right is me.

Yes, I was the best looking one then, and still am today...

Back to the topic...the three of us in the photo were best mates. That was (until last summer) the last time we saw each other. The big yellow lorry in the back may give a hint why.

It was about one year ago I (with my first MG) found this website and realised the chap with the name "Hunts" was in fact the same lad I had ran with years ago.

How cool is that? To find your best mate from high school, that you hadn't talked to in decades, mad about MGs just like you are, and able to pick back up where you left off.

Skye, thank you for putting together such a brilliant site that brings folks together around the quintessential British sports car for the everyday man.

Kind regards,

M

Matt, I don't think this is off topic at all! This is a great site, and telling Skye is very appropriate.

So, are you from the states, and moved to the UK, or were you in the states from the UK in the picture, or what? Give us "the rest of the story."

That's an incredible story. Do y'all have plans to meet up?
wouldn't worry to much about OT. You mentioned this board, LBC's and had nice thank you for Skye which I would like to throw in an amen. I think you covered the bases pretty well. Thanks for sharing.

Cool story. You guys look like three extras from "Teen Wolf". Ahh, the 80's.

"Fire up the Quatro!"

('Ashes to Ashes' reference to those of you who don't know. Which was a follow up series to 'Life on Mars' for those who know a bit less. Which was a British TV show about getting stuck in another time, for those who don't know what I'm speaking of at all.)

Great story. So just where did you and Hunts meet up 20 odd years ago?

If I recall, Landon wrote about this meeting last year, when he travelled to England. He gave some details, but I wouldn't know where to find them on this site.

Matt;

I think you can attribute that to the invention of the Internet
or World Wide Web (thanks, Mr. Al Gore!).

I attended elementary school & middle school on a tiny island
in Micronesia, Marshall Islands. I thought I would never again hear from any
of my class-mates. But, due to the Internet we are in-touch and have had
reunions.

So, again; which one is the handsome one? :I3:

Hmmm...the rest of the story...

Nothing exciting really. We grew up in Pennsylvania and I moved away. University transitioned into a job, the job turned into a career, chicks became women and women became wives...quite easy to lose touch...

I believe he had a brief stint with cross dressing and was in and out of rehab, but that's probably not appropriate to talk about here.

Thanks to the magic of the internet (indeed, credit must be given to Mr. Gore for his creation, as well as Mrs. Clinton for braving sniper fire to facillitate it) I saw his name and avatar on this website about a year ago.

He did in fact come out for a visit last year with his lovely wife and we drank a lot of cider and ale, ogled the well built local women and drove all over Eastern England in the RB GT as well as the 15 year old Jaguar I had at the time.

I haven't talked to Hunts in a few days so I have no idea if he's seen this thread...

Wait a minute, that's not fair, Mrs. Clinton simply forgot that she didn't have to dodge sniper fire. So, that's not a fair criticism. After all, She has probably had to dodge so much sniper fire in her lifetime, that it's easily forgotten. Arkansas lawyers get shot at all the time, right?
