What type of treatment do you put onto the pebble vinyl hard tops? I just picked up what I think is a Snugtop according to the PO but I can't find any markings. The interior is white fiberglass but the exterior looks like the pebbled vinyl to me. It has been sitting out in the weather for a few years but looks to be in good condition, I would like to put something on it to keep it in good condition (and make it look nicer for selling). What is good to put on these hard tops?

My other one is a factory fiberglass so it doesn't get the same treatment as this one. Do I just use convertible top conditioner?

Michelle,
My snugtop has a black textured (hard) fiberglass exterior. Same as interior (white). Without a picture, I cant tell what you have but if you think it is vinyl (soft material), maybe it was covered? Are there any indications of this covering like loose edges above the window channels or around the rear window?

I'd say that if you can't leave a fingernail mark in the outer textured finish, it's fiberglass. If you can, it's vinyl. I'd throw some Armorall on it.

I have a Snugtop hardtop and over the years my top has dulled. I use a product called "Back to Black". You can purchase it just about any place that sells auto products. Wal-Mart, AuroZone, Advanced Auto, and many others. It is also good for those black bumpers. It is not a permanate fit and will have to be reapplied every couple of weeks. I hope this helps.

My snugtop does have vinyl on it, as I have a very small tear in it.

I just put some Armour All on it once in a while, and it looks good.....but it has never seen the light of day on the road for me....as I'm still not getting anywhere fast!

I had luck in 'restoring' a set of rubber bumpers on my 1980 B by putting baby oil and sometimes a light coat of vasoline on them about once a week. After a while the bumpers returned to their orig black color....

Here is what the top looks like closer up. Still can't find any id markings on it. But it appears to be in good shape and the seals too, the PO didn't like a convertible so he took the soft top off and put this one right after they bought it. So it has been on the car for several years.

Definitely a SnugTop like the one I had. Vinylex works great - gives a satin finish, not too glossy like Amour All.

I sprayed a top like that down with tire shine... came out much better than I expected!
