Hello again all,
After sealing a leak in my gas line, my engine run generally much happier these days.
However, it's clear to me something isn't quite right. She runs with WAY less power than she used to. It is high time I change my fuel filters, but I figured I'd also take the opportunity to learn a bit more about how to tweak the engine a bit. In particular, it feels like air fuel mixtures not quite right.
I'm new to carbs (auto work in general). While I understand what a carb does, and more or less how it does it, I could use some resources on the weber dual carb specifically. Something with pictures would help a TON. Does anyone know of anything out there?
Thanks in advance!

Two things Brent...
One is that dealing with the carburetors, unless it is an obvious problem, should be treated as second in line after getting the rest of any issues straightened out. Jumping all over a carburetor looking for an improvement when the problem is rooted in the ignition system is a big waste of time.
The other question is, do you mean that the 69 has been converted to a single down drought Weber with twin chokes or is it a single side draft Weber? A photograph would clear that question up in an instant.

Thanks for the advice. I'm embaressed to say that I had the firing sequence wrong. Fixing that gave me better performance in a hurry (go figure... 8-))
I'll go through and check/replace/re gap the plugs, and check the engine timing before I start playing with the carb.
I'll also post a pic of the carb tonight. Even if I don't touch it I'd like to know what does what. The barrel on it is somewhat sooty, so I know it's going to need to be cleaned soon.

the best way to learn is to apprentice yourself (more or less) to someone who at least knows a little bit. That is, find someone else locally and offer to help him in exchange for him teaching you. Or find someone you can ask to show you how to do this or that.
