USING THIS SITE

I guess I should have asked this question long ago but, there are a few things I'm not sure how to manage. When I log on, I see the latest thread listed, but that could have been from a while ago, and the fact that it's at the top of the page is because someone has posted a recent response. I get confused as to where to start reading the new stuff. Do those icons on the left help me manage this. I'm guessing there's a simple answer but my rain-soaked brain can't fathom it.

to the left of the posts there will be a little flag its you havent viewed it. red normally but purple if its a post you have commented on. at top of forum page is a button to click "mark forum read" and it will reset all the flags then you can just look for the new flags as new messages are posted. that help?
