magnette 4.4

I was wondering how many of these things are about, either going, under construction or ones that have passed away?
I know of five in varying stages, mine, Vince's, Ray Green's, the one on here with the 427?- sorry I cant remember your name and the red one,I can't remember this blokes name either.
How many others are about, and where?
If you have photo's of others please share.

Cheers, Ben

The V8 does seem to be a popular swap, especially the Buick/Rover 215ci version. I guess with that one it's a combination of more power and a much lighter engine/gearbox combo to help with the handling and power to weight ratio.....plus that lovely V8 rumble is easy on the ears as well.

Progress on mine came to a temporary halt about 4 months ago.

Problems getting the MGB GT through the six month test, required rot cutting out of the A pillars, so logically, glass out, repaint roof and tailgate etc. The problems started to hit the wallet again when the screen fitter deemed the rubbers too far gone to reuse, ditto the front 'chrome' retaining surround. An $850NZ bill just for that!!!

Magnette then got ignored again as I elected to get the Marcos back on the track for the new season, and that entailed a front end repaint after repairing previous crash damage.

Add a trip to the UK (managed most of practice day at Goodwood Revival), then flat stick organising a race meeting at the brand new Hampton Downs racetrack, just south of Auckland... Wow! What a track.

Just about back to normal again, so hopefully, back to the V8 and working on those darned fibreglass panels.

Rover V8 is now running sweetly after reverting to standard rocker gear and managed a short burst up the street and managed second gear. Feels pretty good! Can't wait to run it properly, but I fear that local regulations for modified cars wil be a bit of a headache.

Ok it's a bit burnt..but you get the idea. (Notes relate to another post)

Before the fire.

Adaptor for Triumph Dolomite gearbox (electric overdrive)
Try and identify the components used?

MGB Disc Brakes (this image is over 20 years old)
Note the 'shocker' tower?

Exhaust manifold DS. I could improve on the 'collector' today. (This image is over 20 years old).

At least you can get to all the spark plugs. Ford and Chrysler seem to "forget" that on occasion!
