Hey guys,

I relocated my battery from the trunk to the passenger compartment a few years ago at the request of another B racer. Now CVAR wants them out of the interior and either back to the original location (ain't gonna happen) or to the trunk. I need to know if I should make the change before the VDCA Finale, or can I wait until the break after. Does VDCA have a rule on battery placement?

Thanks, John

My battery is in the passenger compartment and that is where it is staying. I don't have any trays anymore. VDCA goes with the SVRA rules and I know of no rule that prohibits the relocation of the battery to the passenger compartment.

Like Fred said, no VDCA rule regarding battery placement. Like you, mine is in the passengers floor, about where the right hand seat would be, and against the sill (a vain attempt to offset my 225+ lbs on the other side:eyeroll:)

I do have it in a spill proof container (marine battery box) and this is bolted to the floor.

As for CVAR wanting the battery in the trunk, where most of us have a fuel cell; why in the world would they want fuel and a spark source in the same "box". I would think safety sake says keep them as far away from each other as possible

I have a GT and so there is really no other place for me to put the battery but where the passenger's seat would be. I have a Hawker gel cell battery so I dont have a battery box around it. VDCA is pretty easy going about most stuff like that.
