I need to replace the head gasket on my 79 Midget, does anyone know the brand that Victoria British sells...are they very good? They are on sale now in the winter catalog for a lot less than I can get a Fell-pro gasket set locally.

Hi Don,

Fell-Pro make VG gaskets I'm not sure was Vicky has in her warehouse? I would call them and ask what company makes there gaskets.

I don't know, but I would doubt they are Fel-pro. My experience with Victoria British is that they sell whatever is cheap, not always the best quality. Also, good luck calling and asking a question. I've also found that the girls that answer the phone are just order takers and don't know much about the products they sell, only how to input and process your order.

Since a head gasket is a job I wouldn't want to do frequently, pay a bit more, get a good gasket and don't look back.

speaking as a professional mechanic, don't question it, just get the best gaskets available, especially a head gasket, you do not want a failure, also make sure to check block deck surface with a flatbar, and if it's in your budget, it's always a good idea to have the head machined, and pressure checked or magnafluxed, depending on your machine shop.

I just bought a payen from aptfast, good price and quick shipping. I think most here would recommend payen.

Pay the extra. Like already stated. Victoria British is price driven and head gaskets are alot of work to install and lot more if failed away from home.

I put a VB head gasket on last winter. Holding up fine so far.

Aren't the Felpro and Payen the same gasket?

Call Gordon Strickland at the B Hive, folks don't think of him as for Midget parts, but he has good stuff ant good prices and is a prince of a guy.
