I'm looking for a good used flywheel from a three synchro transmissioned early MGB, 18GB motor.
I think that the mowog part number would be 12H1474E. It can be identified by diameter at 12" over ring gear, i.e., smaller than the later B wheels, and can be told apart from the very similar MGA flywheel as the A has two clutch plate locating dowel pins, while the B has three dowel pins. The center bolt pattern also has two dowel pins as well as the six bolt holes, and a 1-7/8" location hole. (for those of you who have piles of mixed flywheels laying about)
Also have a good later 13" MGB flywheel from an 18GK motor to sell/trade. Ditto a 12" flywheel from a Magnette for earlier motors than the 1800.
I'm in Colorado Springs, CO.

Greg, while your looking see if you have the latter A flywheel (2 locating pins) that is lighter weight than the earlier A flywheel. Approx. 23 pounds instead of 28 pounds.

Greg, please do. Due to info I have recieved from Hap and others, I'm a bit confused about the weight of the 18GB style 12" flywheel. If you scare one up, can you toss it on a scale? The smaller diameter is what I want, but still not sure if there are several options re: weight. Dan

Dan-

if you're looking to save weight (were you the poster screwing the 300 ZX box to an MGB ), what you may want to do is talk to Rivergate. For their 280Z conversion, thay take a 4 syncro wheel and cut it down to 280Z diamater and install the 280 or early ring gear.

IIRC, this yields a 16 lb wheel, all the weight removed from the perimeter where it does the most good.

Hmmmm.....

did I just sabotage a sale?

Will do tonight on all requests

Greg: thanks for looking, but your answer says "6 bolt three synchro". What is that? Think all of the MG "B" engined flywheels have six bolts, don't they?
Again, I'm looking for a 12" diameter flywheel from a five main motor, 18GB, which I think can be identified by the 1 7/8" center hole, six bolts with two additional holes for locating dowels to crank. Think the three main flywheels (18G, GA) have a 2" center hole, larger six bolt circle, and may not have the dowel pin holes. Does this help?
If it turns out that the 18GB 12" flywheel is heavier than the later 13", I may just have mine machined down to take a 12" ring gear, have it lightened and balanced at the same time, and call it good. Won't save much $ in machining, but will save on shipping.....dan

"Six bolt flywheels" have no relieef for crank dowel pins, and have a larger bolt circle than later flywheels. Believe they were used only on MGA's- MAYBE early MGBs

I found no GB wheels.

I think you best bet is turning down a 4 synchro. Rivergate (as mentioned above) has this pretty much a production operation
