I'm looking to determine the availability of a good condition, non-wire wheel type rear axle. The diff on my 77B sounds bad and I'm pulling the axle out as we speak. If I could locate a nice lower mileage replacement axle for this one within New England it would make my day.

PM me with what you have.

Thanks,

John Esposito at quantumeachanics might have one.

I have one here in Michigan but I'm sure that's too far away, and it does need the "clunk" repair (thrust washers). You didn't mention what kind of noise yours is making. If it's the infamous "clunk" you can fix that yourself in a day - at very modest parts cost.

FWIW,
Allen

Call Erick Van Sickle at Leyland British in Arundel (967-2504). He will have many but they could be buried out back. John Campbell in Harrison will have some as well. I do not know his number. You might want to contact Jim Lea the president of the MidMaine Sports Car Club in the midcoast. He may have some leads.
