Made it all of 300 miles to Chattanooga from outside of Lexington, Ky just fine. The front end shakes a bit over 70 and I pulled in with one tire fairly low, so I am thinking the wheels need to be balanced and the vibrations caused the tires to leak a little on the drive down. I filled it up as soon as I got here...28 MPG with a non-OD 71 B going about 70-75 down the interstate, carbs set a hair rich. I was really impressed overall, not bad for a year and a half of work, about 2,000 in parts, and a lot of blood, sweat, and tears (from sweat in my eyes of course). Anyone know of a good place in Chattanooga that can balance Rosestyle (sp?) wheels well (and is reasonable on price too)?

Congrats- It can take awhile to get confidence after a rebuild. A long trip is the shakedown that tells you if your MGB is really roadworthy and if the hard work was worth the effort. It feels good doesn't it?

I don't know about "reasonable price" but this will do the job: http://www.gsp9700.com/pub/search/findgsp9700.cfm.

When you go get your tires balanced with original non wire wheels there are two ways to balance tires what is the way we have to do it.

They have to be balanced Lug-centric, not hub centric.
It put a nice smile on my face to call my Dad and let him know I made it with me and the car in one piece.

Good trip report, Hurst. The link I provided will take you to a local shop that does the lug-centric load testing. I had to do this on my rostyles, and it made a tremendous difference.

Thanks for the link. It looks like there are quite a few places around here to get them balanced at. I am going to try to rotate front and rear and see if it changes anything to figure out if the balance is off. My suspension bushings are not in that great of shape either; I think I am going to need A-Arms and bushings. King pins seem fine.
