I'm getting ready to buy a black interior carpet kit. I think I plan to spend around $200 - $250. This car is a '76B driver. It's decent but will never be a show car. A couple of questions; Is it really worth it to go the big bucks or is $200+ OK? Next question is from whom? I hear rumors of not fitting, cheap quality, no instructions, etc. Also how about padding/sound deadening? thanks, Bob

A Lot of folks on here like the moulded tunnel kit from Moss. I bought the OE loop kit from the Roadster factory/magic carpet factory. It came with good instruction and is of a good quality.
Moss have some good sound/heat proofing. You might want to check your local auto parts store to.
The kit from TRF’s Magic Carpet Factory has a seam behind the shift lever. With a RB car's arm rest it is a none issue.
The only other complaints that I have heard is that the tunnel piece is too long. I have their carpet in the 1971 car and it fit as advertised.
The set with the jute backing actually smells right.
I went with the Prestige kit for the GT - quality is O.K., but fit is not great. I would NOT recommend it.
I will need one for the roadster soon, and think I will go with TRF - they seem like good quality at a fair price.
Limey, The TRF set in my 71 fits OK. My only issue is it seems to have faded from that rick black colour it was when new 3 years ago.
I went with the lower end Moss kit. The quality seems fine but now I'd sure like to have the molded set. Mine's a '63. Getting a nice fit around the wheel wells and tunnel were difficult. Need to do a lot of dry fitting and trimming before laying down the adhesive. Still not happy with the folds around the shifter hump. I also got the heat/sound deadening material from Fatmat. Have no basis of comparison to any other product but it seemed to go in easily and I expect it to do its job though the car hasn't been run yet to find out.
You get what you pay for. Pay cheap and you get cheap, and it reflects that lack of quality within a few years. Good stuff will hold up to years of wear and tear. Just depends on what you want. Me, I would not even consider buying a kit that was not moulded to fit. Did that once and ended up throwing it away unused because it looked so bad
