I installed the pertronix in my MGB today without problems and the car is still running well. My question is "where does the wire tie go that was supplied in the kit? I didn't see anything in the instructions about it.
What is the wire tie for in the pertronix kit?

Use it to hold the 2 wires (B & R) out of the way of moving rotor! DO IT ! I believe there is a hole on the backing plate that is convenient.

Thank you, that is what I needed to know. I'll go out and do it now.
That is where I used the tie. Also I put a dab of Silicone RTV secruing the wires to the breaker platein one spot usually half way point. It would suck to have the wires bounce up and catch the rotor or other moving parts.
I have used Pertronics in many cars for many years of good service, so enjoy!!
I stick the tie strap into the hole where the condenser used to sit and force it to the outisde of the distributor near the pozi-drive screw holding the breaker plate in place. Then wrap it around the 2 wires and secure it. If you don't tie down the wires, its only a matter of time before the rotor gets 'em.
That's a shim (.030") to measure the gap between the module and the trigger wheel. More is ok, but less is not good. Most of the MGB kits are not adjustable anyway, but you can elongate the hole near the wires to make adjustments as needed.
