Reading through the old books again, came across this offering. I like it and would give it an 8 out of 10.

It was essentially badge engineering. It was an MGC with styling changes, just like the Austin Healey Sprite is a Midget with different trim and interior.
Grille is a bit much on the GT but I suppose we're just used to seeing it with a B grille.
Didn't the Sprite come out first which would make the Midget a Sprite with an MG badge and trim? ;)
Fugly is what comes to mind. Reminds me of a 62' Falcon I had when I was 16.
I don't blame Healey, after all it's not one, but WHAT A BEAST!

1962 Falcon was my first car also. Had to replace the fuel pump every year and the water pump every second year, as I remember. Also had to rebuild the manual tranny once when due to a sloppy linkeage, it shifted into second one day before disengaging from first. But I loved it 'cause it was my "first."

NO the midget is a sprite with mods..
Pretty tough to improve on the original Pinninfarina design.
Yes. The Sprite came out 4 years before the Midget version, in 1958 if memory serves. Since this is an MG board, I used MG as the primary reference. I didn't mean that it was an MG first. I was only saying that they are the same car with different trim.

Isn't that what I said? Sorry, maybe I should have reversed the wording. I only meant to say that the Midget is a Sprite with diffierent trim and badges, and the Sprite is a Midget with different trim and badges. I wasn't trying to claim that it was an MG first.
Then again, since the MG factory built the car, you could say it was an MG before it was a Healey, before it was a Midget. ;)
I think we're just funnin' with you, Steve. We all know it was a case of badge-engineering. Still goes on today with all the manufacturers. :bouncing:

But Steveo, have you pour vino for Jerry Coker, and shot the breeze with him, thats the real question :I3:

In fairness Steve...an MG midget is more a Sprite which is tarted up....the Sprite being the senior of the pair in this case.
Its an interesting idea...the grill but without the Healey endorsement it is simply an styling experiment IMHO. AH fans in general rejected the MGC whose sole purpose was to replace the AH....not the first of a lot of questionable decisions at BMC and its later owners....
Huh? LOL! :S :drinking:
Robert, I agree completely. Please see my two previous posts addressing similar comments! ;)
Guys! Guys! What are these lurking newbies gonna think of us!!?:hot:
They'll think exactly what they should. That we're a bunch of very strange people with funny little cars.
