What year is the O/D Transmission?

The serial # on my "Blue Label" overdrive unit is 22/62005/031029. Given this number I've been trying to determine the year it was made. I'm sure it is at least a '74. I put it in my '72 several years ago for the O/D. Now I'm messing around trying to get the speedometer correct. This topic comes up all the time. More recently, Faust added some good suggestions for achieving the correct reading on the speedo provided you know the history on the transmission. A conversion box seems to be the least desirable as they crap out frequently (I've been told this by the local gauge shops.) McKinstry's has a used speedo at a reasonable price if it will do the job (1000 TPM).

Year doesn't matter...black or blue is the question. If you really want to know the year...look under the rear motor mount....can't be done with crossmember on the trans.

Thanks Lloyd - That's what I thought. I'm the original owner so I know the engine well. I swapped the transmission 15 years ago for one with an O/D (mid-70 version). I just need to swap out the speedo for a later version (1000 TPM).

You need a 1000? I need a 1280 I have the 1000, do you have the 1280?

I need to wait for the smoke to settle. I may have a 1000 TPM speedo on the way. I will keep you posted.
