The same place I got my 78B. My Wifes cousin has a rolling body shell (complete) absolutely rust free. It also has a motor and tranny in it with around 20k miles. That is about it. There is a whole yard of parts in varying degrees of decay. I'm thinkin it may be worth snatching it just for the motor. He wants it gone, but is not giving it away. Any thoughts?

I think it is a 76 or 77B.

Its a rubber bumper B, stored outside, engine condition unknown ( mileage does not indicate condition ) about $150 scrap value.

FWIW - Last spring I paid between $1500-2K for a rust-free (really!) '77 with near-perfect interior and 56K original miles (best I could tell - there was decent documentation), with overdrive. Just had a little issue of a gas fire that cremated everything in the engine bay (except - hopefully - still-to-be-proven - the lump itself). In hindsight I overpaid, but, If the car in question is truly rust-free, bring it to New England, or any other 'land of rust', and it should be worth something.

It has been in the same barn I found my 78B. So the body is good. As previously mentioned 20k engine doesnt mean it isnt thrashed. It has a dash and all instruments (in the trunk) one of those!

What you are describing is not worth more that a couple of hundred bucks in my world.

Barry,

I paid $1500.00 for a seemingly rust free car that starts but is not drivable. I have spent $3500.00 so far which includes new interior panels and new seat covers foam etc. so I am up to $5000.00 but the car needs much more work. I have realized that if you worry about the money you should just buy a completely restored car. You will save money. Buy a car from someone with a baby on the way or whose wife is nagging them to get rid of the car so they can put their SUV in the garage (like my wife except she doesn't have an suv). If you enjoy working on cars offer him $500.00. It may be too much but it will be a miniscule amount compared to the final cost to restore the car. I learned from this site to be careful about hidden rust to the inner sills. If they are rusted the car should be sold for scrap.
