Hi
First all I better introduce myself as im new to this forum. I bought a 1979 MGB GT back in October to learn more about cars, I havent done much to it...just fixed things that have gone wrong and added small things such as air filters, BB exhaust, green stuff brak pads etc. Iv attached a picture It, though im sure most of you have seen an mgb before :P
Anyway back to my Q. Basically I want to know about these alloys iv bought. First off has anyone actually seen them before? I thought they were revolutions but iv been told there not. How do I prepare the wheel for new tyres? (they came to me corroded, iv taken this off but do I have to paint them with a special paint?) How wide a tyre can/should I get for them?
Any help would be much appreciated :)

You should not need to do anything to them. Are they steel or an alloy? Measure the width of them and how far the distance is from the hub mating surface and the back side of the edge of the rim. Are there ANY markings on the rims?
There made of an alloy, total width is just under 6.5 inches, mating surface back of rim is 4.25 inches. It has made in england and 5.5x14 stamped on the inside of them.
Tire sizes you could look at would be either 185/70 or 195/60. I'm using the latter.
I can't quite place what wheels those are. My first thought was Mamba, but they're not.

Hi
Thanks for the replies, il take a look at those sites.
Is there any perticular tyre to go for? And how much should I expect to spend on 4 new tyres? (first time il be getting new tyres!)
There must be some online tire site in the UK. Here in the US we have the tire rack as an example. The 175 and 185 size in the 70 aspect ratio are cheap and plentiful. They can be found at the low end of the tire price spectrum (whatever that is in the UK). Here, we can get 175/70/14 at Wallyworld for $30 USD.
I wonder if in England the Vredestein might be plentiful and cheap? They still come in the original 165/14 tire size.
