Hey .. what happens when you brake an axle ?? can you limp home on the
other one .. or are you dead in the water ??

When a half shaft breaks you're going home on the end of a rope. :)

If the outer flange breaks off like in the rotary Bugeye photo it's easy to fix. Simply remove the broken axle and install a replacement. If it breaks at the diff end it's a whole 'nuther story that usually invloves removing the diff to get the broken bits out.
