Why is is so difficult to get MGBers together? When I first moved to Cali in 2000 I bought my first convertible-Miata and posted a get together on the Miata Forum and 11 guys showed up. When I bought my Alfa Spider, same thing 8 guys showed.
I have tried several times here, no response and no shows. Is it because most of us are older (I'm 47) and the novelty has worn off or is it my anti-perspirant!? :)

If you were near me, I'd call in to work to show up. I'm only 20 though if that makes a difference..

Invite them to your house free food and beer. Or find a NAMGBR chapter or British car club close by.

I don't know! I've had pretty good luck with meeting MGBexp guys/gals around here and downstate. I guess New Yorkers are just much more friendlier than you guys in Cali! :D

Oh yea, we've heard tha too :)
On Sunday we did a garage tour of three sites where club members were doing work. We expected 8 to 10 and got 18. We were pleased. One guy drove 90 minutes one-way to come.
I drove 300 miles for picnic with upstate british cars clubbers. Mostly MG's

Hey, I resemble that remark! :(
I have to be in Huntington Beach, CA April 16-19th for a meeting. If there is anyone getting together in that general vicinty on the 20th, I would plan on leaving on Sunday rather than Saturday. I have very tentative plans to try to meet up with Steve S that Saturday.
I live in Modesto only about an hour and a half away. I will host a Windsheild party as soon as my screws come in. Come on over , I will buy the beer and pizza. I also have a set of floorpans I will host a party for that to. Anyone that wants to come is welcome.
I've lived in NY State most of my life and in southern California the remaining portion. Believe it or not, New Yorkers (at least upstaters) seem to be more laid back and friendly than folks in SoCal. But then Mt View is a world away from from OC, just as Western NY is from the Big Apple, so my theory may be unfounded.
Short story is this...no matter where you are, you can find good people around to hang with. You just have to look in the right places. It helps if you're a good person too of course!

freakin a right Same as us Jersey natives :)
I've lived in both NY and CA
Believe it or not, I think NYer's, at least upstaters, can be more laid back and friendly than the folks in CA. But I was in SOCAL, and now in western NY, two completely different worlds. So my theory may be a non-starter.
Hmm, I will have to get back to you on this. I am hosting a tech session at my house the 3rd weekend of this month. Most of our group flings are on the east side of Cleveland so we will see how many show up for a west side fling.

Might be a plan, can I bring the dog?
Distances are much greater here. It takes quite awhile to get to the South Bay, all freeway miles dodging little orientals driving SUVs they can barely see out of...with two cell phones, and hitting 100 mph at times.
I felt the same as you, but I kept pushing it. Last Saturday I had 10 guys come over to help put the engine back in my car. We had chilli and beer....went great!
Don't give up!

Hopefully better than the 2 million (hmmmmm PC [please] "new drivers" here) Sears/and other driver training training cars doing 15 mph here. I can't even get through the side streets to my house without being tormented by "them".
Just had a great get together at Laguna Seca a couple weekends ago, thought you'd be there. We got to drive the track Saturday & Sunday, it was great. I even got to use my new camera and took some of my new and old friends picture of their cars going down the corkscrew. The next couple of months are going to have a lot of things happening. Are you planning on going to any of them?

No one wants to say it....but you still smell of Miata and Alfa. Bath in Castrol 20-50 and dap on some ZDDP and they'll show.
Your Devil Dog is scaring us! We're so old and farting dust ,can't see out of it.

Swamper, we met last year at the San Juan Batista Brit Car Show, I'll try to keep in touch. I will need more info on those shows.
Hey Keith,
I'm over in Tracy and work in the Tri-Valley, just a hop skip and a jump. Unfortunately right now we are in the middle of an engine rebuild so maybe in a month. Bumed we missed out on Laguna Seca but looking forward to some of the other happenings Swamper mentioned.
Hang in there we'll meet up soon. Most of us are out there leading busy lives but all the more reason to make time to hit the road.

Laguna Seca was a hoot! Thanks for the pics Swamper. I'll have to get them scanned to post here. Not to show off or anything... :)
I drove 280 miles one way to go to the Laguna Seca meet. (with overdrive) You just have to plan your driving in the Bay area. I went down the East Bay Friday morning after rush hour. Made it through San Jose before the afternoon traffic. The drive home Sunday was good. some backup on 80 at Cordellia.
OK , shot the dog, washed off the stink of the Miata....still have the Alfa Spider though, sorry, but here's my beaut on left.
OK , Standing invitation gents feel free to contact me about any shows, tech days, fun drives, show & shines, or just informal 'In and Out Burger' runs! I also have much room to host a tech day.....and beer and pizza......

Geez, is that legal in this State?
Not to sure but I think that you are really close to a very well attended MG Club. I'll see if I can find more info on it but I think they have a Newsletter called the Octagon
Mac.... You would be raised to superhero status!!!!
What could I possibly offer in return from the wilds of western NY. Johnny's Texas Hots perhaps? Cheesy Eddies cheesecake? Homemade Swedish Korv sausage?
I know; Jamestown is the birthplace of Lucille Ball and her family supports an internationally known Museum here in her honor. (In fact my great uncle dated her once in High School.) Perhaps some authentic LUCY swag would be good barter stock.
