Hi. I am just installing a washer system in my 71 roadster as it did not have one when i bought it. There is an in-line valve in the system but I do not know which side of the pump it goes. Would some one pop their hood and let me know? While doing the thrust washers in the diff and fitting a new handbrake cable I noticed that the end of the right hand axle strap retaing pin had sheared off. Aside from welding in a new one from Moss has anyone come up with an ingenious fix?

Out it in the out-put line near the pump itself. It is supposed to keep the line full and improve the response when you push the button.
If there is significant length still there just drill a hole that will accept a cotter pin near the end, cut the eye end of a new strap so that there will be clearance for a large flat washer and the pin and put it all back together. Even if only half of the eye is present that should be plenty of beef to work for a long time.
