Hey everybody in the DFW area of TX. I've got a '74 GT on its way to me from Washington state and it's got the steel wheel setup on it. I'm a wire wheel fanatic and would like to make a swap with someone whose looking to convert to the steel wheel set up. Any takers?

Oh Jimmy, that might just be the ticket! Do you have any interest in my steel wheel set up or do you just want to let the WW setup go without a trade? As you know, we're local so this would be easy for both of us! Please PM me with the particulars about your set up (year car it's out of, milage, ever been rebuilt, etc.)

I'm in St. Louis but I have a complete WW setup I want to exchange for steel, front hubs are perfect, back ones need replacing, wheels are good and true but some spokes do need tightening. I only have four wheels.

Man, Mike...

he needs fronts with Jimmy's rears and (maybe) you can end up with both and smilin!

Hey Mike. Can you give me all the particulars about you set up? How could we get together to do the swap? Jimmy's got a rear set up locally so maybe I should look into that instead. Please feel free to PM me.

Shawn, you'll need both.

Mike's got the pristine front hubs, Jimmy's got the Golden Rear End.

Oh... your brake cable will need to be shorter, Replace or get cable shorteners to take up the difference.

If you can get the rear locally go for it but I'd be happy to do a UPS swap of the front end, send me yours and I'll send you mine.

PM me.

I think that'd work Mike. We're talking about swapping front wheel hubs right? How big of a hurry are you in? I want to drive the GT some (I've not driven a B in 21 years) before the weather gets cold (yes it does get cold here). Then I'll be ready to do the trade if we come to terms. Let's chat via PM to work out the particulars. Thanks!

If that doesn't work out for you, I have a complete 70 model rear end and front hubs that I need to get rid of. Pulled them off of a parts car, so I can not give any history on them.

Todd, were you addressing me or Mike? Where are you located?

Shawn - sorry to jump your thread but I have to ask a question:

I am green with envy of your 72, it's beautiful, how can you start another project without being able to take that beauty for a drive to show off?

Thank you Greg, I'm very flattered. I'm really not taking on another project (yeah right!) MGB I just need a driveable car that gets good gas milage and I've always wanted to put a GT into the stable. The '72 is now in my garage now with no bonnet, wings, doors, windshield, bumpers, interior, etc. After the car show was over (where the photos were taken about five years ago) I decided that I was going to do something about the beautiful but fragile paint job you see in the photos. The painter applied way too much hardner or something and the paint job was literally starting to flake off like eggshell. I had also restored the car with reproduction wings and bonnet (all that were available at the time) which never fit as well as I wanted. Furthermore, the doors were developing the dreaded crack of doom. Anyway, I bit the bullet and stripped all the offending parts off so I can replace them with Heritage items and then have the remaining paint removed before a new re-spray. Life's sort of gotten in the way these past five years since I got married and had a child. Can't put as much time or money into the '72 as quickly as I want to like I once could. So anyway, I bought the GT as something to drive basically so I don't have to drive my gas hog work truck everywhere I go. My focus is to finish the '72 first and then I'll figure out what to do with the GT. I think it'd be a cool car for my son when he's old enough to drive (he's four now) but that's a long way off. So there's my story. Sorry if it turned into a novel.

Shawn, thanks for sharing! I've often wondered when reading your posts why you never drove that beautiful car - but now I know! I hope you get to reassemble it soon - but I KNOW you have your priorities straight right now. Enjoy that little boy - like my son, he'll be 27 before you know it!

I was addressing you Shawn, but if you are not interested then it is first come first serve. I am in Northwest Arkansas. I also have a later type top frame that I need to sell.
