I have a 1975 MGB with a Zenith Carb (California) and I just went through the choke assembly and noticed that the three screws that hold the choke to the main body were loose.

The three screws that hold the main body to the carb are fine but two of three screws that hold the adjuster part of the choke to the main body are striped. What size are they? They look like metric.

Thanks,

Scot

I just used 3 10/32 screws slightly longer than the originals and they worked fine, it you look inside the holes you can see that only the first few threads strip out, so longer screws will get you by.

More likely, the screws aren't stripped, it's the holes that are. That is the worst thing about those carbs. They are made of pot metal, it seems. and the screws do need to be longer, but even if you do get the longer ones and they tighten now, I would not be at all surprised if the threads give out again after a few tightenings. I don't know what the best fix is - maybe drill out, and put something like a Heli-Coil in if there's room.
