OK so I am New to this and I have an entire web SITE full of questions ... I will list them (or some) here ... answer any and all if you can. Love this site ... VERY helpful to a new LBC Owner.

1. I seem to have an exhaust leak at the cat. converter. There are three nuts that fasten it on and one is on the back side, almost flush with the block ... HOW THE HELL DO YOU GET TO IT??? The nuts are missing on two of the three bolts ... I replaced one and the leak is still there (as well as a new high pitched whine) I am assuming I closed the gap a bit, but not enough.

2. WIRING: everytim I tried to load the wiring diagram on this site I just get a blank page ... am I missing something?

3. How do adjust a Zenith Carb??? It's my 1st time ever touching one and although it's working my rpm's are up there still.

4. Winshield wipers ... whats the bast way to access them. Mine do not work at all and I am assuming (I know, bad thing to do) that the linkage is just frozen up.

Oh there are MORE ... but I'll start there!

I have a 1977 MG Midget that my Uncle gave to me. It was sitting in his garage since 1987 untouched ... a few plugs, new oil and some carb work and POOF she fired up and runs so-so ... some fine tunning and an interior make over and I have my summer toy!

Thanks for any help ... and thanks to the web master ... LOVE THIS PAGE!

Welcome to the madness Brendon.

I'll answer your questions based on a B's perspective, but probably not that much different.

1. Best thing to try are several combos of extensions and maybe a u-joint. You'll have to get all tightened to get rid of any leaks. Check the gasket as well, they sometimes blow out (and missing nuts wouldn't surprise me).

2. Web site might be down. Pick up a Haynes manual for all the wiring diagrams.

3. High RPM's could be a vacuum leak. Zenith's also had bad chokes (don't get Tony started on that issue!). Spray some WD40 around the manifold and if there's an increase, you have a vacuum leak. Also, loosen up the 3 screws holding the choke on and rotate counter-clockwise. You'll force the choke to disengage (could be gummed up). Since it's been sitting so long, you may want to rebuild anyway. Again, the Haynes will give step by step on tuning.

4. Check power first before linkage. Never had one freeze up on me (move slow yes, but never freeze). It will be the green fuse in case it's blown (but you'll find other guages not working).

Congrats on your Midget, my first LBC was a '78 Midget. I bought it in ''85 or '86 and drove the wheels off it!
