Hey, why is it that "Yankees" don't start their question with hey but still have the ability to work on and drive MGs as well as us Souther Folks? Matter of fact they don't start with a greeting at all they just jump in and take over the conversation.

Your comments!

Hey, that's just getting to the point! But up here in the Poconos, we do a lot of "Hey, how're you doing?" when engaging others in small talk.

Hey! I grew up in Atlanta and now live north of Albany, New York. I don't know about the "Hey" thing, don't use it myself; though, occasionlly I do have a hard time understanding my boss who is from Providence, Rhode Island. The people here do not have the sterotypical NY or Boston accent, they sound like a cross between those in the mid-west and Canadian. Biggest difference I've noticed about the people here is that they all want to take off their shoes when the come in the house! When ever we have a party, we end up with a huge pile of shoes near the front door!

Most too, do not like Okra, I don't know why the Wal-Mart here continues to stock it. It will sit there all week and eventually turn brown and ugly!

Aren't you supposed to take off your shoes when you enter sombodies house?? I expect it!! Canadians don't have accents, unless they are from Quebec!! :o)

True Yankees aren't known for being verbose. (Or talkative, for that matter!) That having said, I'm a dyed-in-the-wool New Englander, and I usually start off questions with 'Hey All'. I was always taught that 'Hey' was a rather rude greeting and shouldn't be used, but somehow it seems works on the web...

Hey......Canadians don't have accents???? eehhh? Sorta like Minnesooootans' don't or people from Wiscaaaahnnnsin, or Vermont, or Long Island. Ain't it fun (My Momma woulda slapped me for saying "ain't") !!!!!! Here's to lingual diversity !!

John M...Liking okra is genetic, I believe and we all came from the South. Haven't convinced anyone in Denver that didn't already eat it , to eat it. Thought Wal-Mart had better inventory control than that.

Hey, Minnesota - accent?? Just because Fargo was filmed up here in Brainerd doesn't mean that the people really talk like that . sound like that, don't you know?

Now I have to go to the auto parts store, you want to come with?
