Should I replace the adjuster assembly if they look like mine do?

Not necessarily. I clean them up looking worse than that all the time.

Take the entire backing plate off and completely disassemble it including the adjuster. Clean and polish the adjuster, including both the slugs and the screw, on a bench wire wheel. Upon reassembly smear a light lube of anti-seize on the slugs and the adjuster screw.

When you order new shoes and cylinders also ask for a new hardware kit.

Take time to wire brush and paint everything just like it was going to sit on the front fender and you will be a happy camper.

This brake looked a lot worse than yours does before I did a little handwork on it.

Nice work, Jack.

Thanks for the assistance. I can't wait to get fresh parts on this baby and run her out of the garage that has held her captive since September.
