I've been toying with the idea of purchasing a 1959-1967 Jaguar Mk II 3.4 or 3.8 sedan. The 2.4 seems too underpowered but the later 240 of 1967-69 might be a consideration. I love the elegant looks of this car but those were questionable years for Jag in terms of reliability. While not looking for a project, the desired car would be at least a high condition three or a two, making it a very fine driver. Anyone out there ever own or work on one of these? Should I just sit down and wait until the feeling wears off?

If you can't start off with one as nice as the one pictured don't mess with it.

If it helps there is a good Jag site at:
http://www.jag-lovers.org/

with a dedicated Mk II section (called Saloons by the way on that site) which might be worth a look before thinking about taking the plunge.

Cheers , Peter.

Great cars!

They were built before the trouble years though. Build quality didn't become an issue till the 70s

Like MGs it's all about rust.

With Jags rust is very, very expensive to fix.

Thanks for the help. I haven't seriously started a search yet but it will have to be a really nice one and Deb likes the idea.

Al: I just saw your post about the Mk II. That's a worthy project.
