Maybe ZZTop? Poor Cord! Man there is alot of detail on that car. Wonder what the inside looks like.

It's well done for a street rod, but the Auburn/Cord/Duesy crowd must have a stroke when they see it...

Have to admire the undercarriage work though

Man I'll bet they Do flip out Joe, I know I would. That was originally a very attractive front wheel drive car, pre-selector gearbox and probably a supercharged engine. The famous old cowboy movie star Tom Mix snuffed himself in one of those coffin nosed Cords, but his was a convertable.

Very neat. They obviously didn't worry about blind spots back then.

Those were some of the fastest cars built in their day. As long as you could see through the windshield there were no blind spots, everything was behind you and shrinking fast.

I always thought the old Cords were one of the most beautiful cars in the world. My grandfather on the Yankee side made them and my dad and I used to go "back home" for the Auburn, Cord, Duesenburgh fest each year before Krause Auctions found out about it. I wish he'd found a glass body and made a custom chasis and restored that one

Ugly! But I ask you, can we still truthfully call it a Cord? Kinda reminds me of a MGC with a chevy drivetrain, Jag rear end, non-stock interior, flared fenders at all four corners and tubs to hold the wide slicks in the rear. Is it still a MGC?

Nope!

two words: paint job. hell they can even keep the orange, i don't mind that so much just balance it out, it needs some black.

another two words: chrome grill.

it looks like a cord that's pushing a front axle.

A more imaginative colour scheme might help. Man thats a lot of bright red.

Sad, sad....
My father-in-law owned a 37 Cord Phaeton for over thirty years and is a long time member of the ACD Club. If I showed him those pic.s he might have a stroke! He sold it a few years ago when it became too much for him to handle (he's 92).
The old timers in that club are a pretty resourceful lot. I am imagine if that got their hands on that thing they could probably restore it. Although looking at the pic.s the only original bits seem to be the body shell of a Westchester sedan, the trunk lid and maybe the hood. The sedans go fairly cheap, relatively speaking. I heard a story once that some club members excavated a river bank near Auburn looking for some prototypes that were cut up and used in an erosion control project in the '30s.
Now if I was going to do a hot rod Cord I would keep all the externals stock and use a built Olds Riveria/Cadilac front wheel drive and 454.....
