I have just fitted a very nice new early style grille that has the 1 dimensional emblem. My old and battered grille still has a nice original 3 D emblem. How are they fixed in their bezels and how do I swap them over? (The old bezel is damaged so I can't swap the whole thing). I've searched the forum and can't find anything on this.

Jack,
My old one, I had to pry off. Seems it was held on with some glue or sealer. My new one, I gave the backside a spray of clearcoat and used silicone sealer to attach it.
Ted
Similar situation to yourself. New grill awful badge.
I pushed the awful new MG badge off from behind. Used a skinny screw driver if recollect. There is a hole in the back of the plinth.
It turned out that all that was holding it was some double sided sticky tape. This did not work with the old badge, apparently in the past someone had used epoxi glue to hold it on. I went and bought a new badge, a good 3D one. You can still get them. Cost about $20. Then I found that the good badges don't quite fit the new plinth that they have got to go into. I used the awful new badge as a template. Then about half an hour, some very cautious filing and sanding. Use a fine file and don't file toward the front incase you chip off a corner. Then some very fine sand paper followed by a touch of some metal polish (Autosolshine) to make the edge smooth. I glued it in with silicon glue. That has held it firmly, but it is possible to get the badge off again.
It is never as easy as you think it will be, it's an MG!

My experience, PRECISELY. The new badge didn't even LOOK right
Jack: As I recall the badge has prongs on the back which fit into holes in the plinth and lock nuts similar to those that hold the boot emblem, hold them on. The one you are working on may not be that old so well may be hald on with double edge tape.
