Lindsey Porter Restoration, and Practical Classics both have excellent body work books

There's no substitute for jumping in and getting your hands dirty.

A good paint job is 75% preparation and 25% perspiration..

Hey Stephen,

That's Red MGB Restoration Book is very good, BUT, are you looking for advice on the body work itself, OR MGB specifically?

The Resto book ASSUMES that you already know how to weld, and smear bondo, etc.

If you're looking for a book on body work in general, I would suggest heading over to Barnes and Noble - they have all kinds of books on the subject. The internet is also a good place to start.

I will make a suggestion though on YOUR FRONT FENDERS, If you see a spot the size of a dime ON THE OUTSIDE, then you need to remove the fender itself.

THE MGB fenders rust from the INSIDE OUT. So, when bubbles are visible on the outside, you can bet money that the inside is worse. I do not recommend just smearing on some body filler and calling it a day. This will only last a short time.

Go ahead and get the Lindsay Porter book and it explains in detail how to remove the fender and once you have it off, you'll be able to attack the rust from the back side of the fender and weld in a new piece of metal. If its just a small part, you may have gotten it early enough. Many times the whole bottom of the fender is pitted because the DPO smeared bondo on a rust bubble, and it continued to fester underneath the paint, until only the paint and the bondo were left.

Good Luck Stephen, and post some pictures, maybe we can help you out,

B
