Just got the new wheels in and they look like they might rub the car on the rear. I have stock wheels with 155/80-13 and they are almost rubbing. I'm wondering if the new ones are going to rub when I get the tires put on since the wheel is 1/2 " wider. Hmmmm! (79 Midget)
Anyone run 5.5" wheels on the midget?

Louie,
Rub they may but the wheel width has less to do with it than the tire profile. Offset is a bigee. In many cases the wheel width reduces the tire width at the wides point.

Louie, Its pretty easy to roll that lip up and out of the way on the rear fender well. It takes a baseball bat and patience, but can be done without cracking the paint.
Louie, you have now scratched the surface and started the formation of a bottomless pit where all you money will soon go, into that Spridget! The wheels and tires should clear, especially with 155's, but you may have to roll the lip as Mike suggested and then a panhard rod would help as well. You see, the start of lots of fun projects just to upgrade the wheels.
I guess I sold about 100 set of 13x5.5" wheels for Midgets, and ran the on my race car. Square rear arch cars are mostly doing 175/70/13 tires and RWA cars are doing 185/70/13s.
I have 13 x 5.5 on mine. I ony run 155's on them though. No rubs, but the rear are close.
They fit...I just put them on and they work great. When they came in the mail they just looked too big. Thanks for all the comments!
