19 freakin' bloody hours without phone service! I know cause I was watching 'Jeopardy' and making a call at same time last night. Cell phone call has some button pusher tell me "I'm sorry, service is out to your entire area." What does that mean?! "Will probably be out for several hours." Same message repeated today. I have AT&T service as well for my cable TV and my DSL. Dropped comcast several months ago for AT&Ts all inclusive offering. Think I will go back to comcast and find a more reliable phone service! Still need my landlines, but finding I have to keep two different cell services to cover all the places I go (Montana, Idaho, Wyo, Colo.). Recommendations?

We have AT & T and went cross country in 08--no issues. We didn't hit the states you mentioned, though. We don't have cable or DSL for TV (we don't watch TV), but do use cable for the net. We really haven't had issues with AT & T. In fact, I just got off the phone with them because they said we didn't pay a bill. The took care of it promply and waived the late fee. When I upgrade phones they charge a fee. I call the next billing cycle and the hapily remove the fee. So, overall, we're happy with the service.

Jim, We also have AT&T for our landline and internet.
No problem with the landline but their internet service
is the shits. It is down about as much as it is up.
Going to change provider!

Verizon consistantly is ranked as the best cell away from the east coast. Friends near Vale CO use it exclusively as anything else drops rapidly while traveling. None are perfect but for cell, Vorizon is my choice. Vonage is a good alternative to land line. Pioneer is my long distance provider but I don't have much of selection in Iowa....3 cents a minute and a nickle for the UK as I recall....

Been on AT&T forever, haven't had many problems, traveling all over the country.
