Any of you ever replace the sealed battery inside your battery jumping gizmos? Looks like mine may be dead because the 110 to 12V power supply died. I've replaced the power supply with one from my junk box but I'm not sure the battery is not too far gone. I know, a new jumper is only $60 from HF but I just have this uncontrollable urge to repair what I already have. The few batteries I found on the web cost way more than a new jumper does.

The price of replacement batteries in most anything is enough to make me trash the whole shebang and I'm a fix everything guy too. I bought my present cell phone for less than a battery cost for my old one.

I have had two of these - $49 from Autozone or WalMart and they are very very handy - but both stopped taking a charge and died within a year.

I think if there is a non-cheapo non-Chinese version of this I will buy it.

Anyone had good luck with a particular brand?

The new Craftsman boxes have doors on them to replace batteries, don't know how much the batteries cost.

Mine, from Harbor Freight is about 8 years old. Cannot complain about the service life at all. It's just throwing away the good stuff that is left that I hate. Still has the functional charging system as well as the high current switch very much like those we put in our cars. Already bought a replacement, though

Gerry,

I have used mine for almost 8 years. Love it. The indicator switch went bad a couple of years ago so I RG'ed it. When It dies I'll get a new one. Love battery packs.

My battery jumper cables don't have batteries. I've had them for 30 years. Still work great.

My jumper cables are set up so I can plug them into my truck. My truck is not always where I need power. One of my most frequent uses of the battery pack is to pump fuel into my tractor using a auto fuel pump. The tank is too high and surrounded by front end loader bracketry for me to comfortably support a five gallon can so the fuel pump/battery pack makes the job much easier and less likely to spill diesel

The one we have can, I've also just left it hooked up to a running vehicle to pull up the charge for the next one in line to be jumped off on the cold winter mornings that diesels dont quite like!
