Maybe everyone has have already heard this joke but I saw it on another BBS and thought it was great.
The owners of all of the major beer companies got together for a meeting, and all ended up going out to a bar together. The owner of Budweiser ordered a Bud, The owner of Miller ordered a Miller, Coors ordered a Coors, and so on. Then, the owner of Guiness stepped up and ordered a Coke. All of the others looked at him with a questioning look. Upon seeing their confusion, he said, "If you fellas aren't going to order beer then I guess I won't either!"
And yes I am a bit of a beer snob and I proudly wear that label like a badge of honor!

I want to make a trip up to Burlington to visit the Magic Hat brewery. #9 and Humble Patience are two of my favorites. How far is Burlington from Stowe? Could I do both the weekend of the British Invasion?
Hi John-
That would be no problem. You could throw in a Ben & Jerry's factory tour along the way. You will drive right by it on Route #100 in Waterbury going into Stowe. Burlington (actually it's in S. Burlington) and Stowe are about 35 easy miles apart. Approximately 50% of it will be on the interstate. If you are bringing any kids along the Vermont Teddy Bear Company store is about 6 miles south of the brewery on Route #7. It's interesting to some.
I always try to encourage all visitors to Vermont to leave as much money here as possible! Any other VT questions just ask away!
O.K. - Why does it look like New Hampshire, only upsidedown?
Eric-
I thought that out a bit and.......I give up, why does it?
Eric-
Actually there is a punch line to that joke but I forgot what it was!
I believe it has a political angle to it, such as liberal v. conservative.
Tim: Have you ever run into a guy named Mick Danforth? He's a guy I knew from Burlington while in the USAF many years ago. AL Bradley
Al-
No I can't say I have. However the last **** is the same used in a very successful business located in Middlebury.
Very nice Austins-Healeys!
John,
It's about a 2.5 to 3 hour drive from where you live. It's rather pretty up there and some really nice twisty roads if you go up through Whitehall. The brewery itself isn't near as big as I thought it would be. The beer is free in the brewery however. And yes, #9 is also one of my favorites.
Trent
Actually, they are both sideways and backward. New Hampshire should look like Oklahoma and Vermont is about the size of Texas should all the sand and B.S. blow away.
for beer snobs:
Odell's - 90 Shilling Ale
Odell's - Easy Street Wheat
Boulder Brewing Company's - Single Track Copper Ale
Unfortunately the draught is only distributed regionally....but if you come through. New Belgium's Fat Tire used to be good but they made it sweeter.
"as of 1999 Colorado boasts more brewpubs, per capita, than any other state. With Anheuser-Busch in Fort Collins, the Coors Brewery in Golden, and a myriad of microbreweries, Colorado produces more beer than any other state. A good portion of these breweries are located in a historical district dubbed, "LoDo," short for the 26-square-block area in Lower Downtown. If it's a beer festival you're searching for, look no further … Denver is also host to the Great American Beer Festival, which showcased some 1,300 beers and 300 plus breweries last year (2002). "

I feel blessed and obviously a little provincial. From what I hear, Oregon is also a a hotbed of beer...but it's all relative and I know we can all go to the store now and have choices of literally hundreds of brands, styles, etc.
JTB
I'm glad you mentioned Oregon. We will be having our own micro-brewery here in Pendleton soon.
Currently, Deschutes Brewery produces my favorite, Black Butte Porter. Wake up in the morning and feel the 30wt. rolling in your veins.
Black Butte Porter, eh? I do LOVE the beer names. My favorite here so far is Flying Dog, Doggie Style Pale Ale with label art by Hunter S. Thompson (seriously weird) or was that "Road Dog Ale" or "In Heat Wheat" that he did the lable for?
Got any nominations??
JTB
I am into Speckled Hen as of late. I use to home brew and want to start up again soon. A great excuse to buy some beer, "Hey I need the cap-able bottles."
When I was in college and homebrewed, my buddy and I called our concoction "Piss Beer", Yummy Huh? We made labels, etc., sold the stuff we couldn't stomach to the underage kids.
Two of my favorite labels:
Benchwarmer Poter - Cooperstown, NY
Thunder Hole - Bar Harbor, ME
Hi John-
Wow! 6.3% I like porter's but I have never seen it in VT but I'll look around. I found a nice review of it here: <http://www.beeradvocate.com/beer/rate_results/60/176/> Beer recommendations are great! So how long until your B is one the road? Parade ready by the 4th maybe?
Anyone know of a good homebrew BBS?
Here's two brewery's located in VT I like to support:
<http://www.troutriverbrewing.com/>
<http://www.rockartbrewery.com/ale.html>
Both are small and make some great brew!
Benchwarmer warms you up! Good stuff. Outside of Cooperstown, I've only seen it at local beer stores. I'm also a Baseball fan, all the beers from that brewery have baseballs on the caps. Their "main" beer is called "Old Slugger". It's an Ale.
Some of my favorite beers are porters. Not too heavy, but dark with a good body. But more of a fall or winter beer. Too heavy for hot days. During the summer, I love a good wheat beer.
Whenever I travel, I always check out the local beers.
Doesn't look like the B will be on the road by the 4th, but soon!
