A couple of before and after shots. No, not an original color, but I like it.

Dang Jack, you were so fast, I did'n t even have a chance to get my second set of pics in. Thanks, I know a lot here will not aprove because it isn't an original color, but I have never wanted a car that looks exactly like everyone else's.
OH CRAP!!! I just realized that the body shop forgot to fill in the holes for the giant side marker lights. Not a huge problem, just got to reload and transport. CRAP CRAP CRAP...(insert other language of choice)..
Actually I like the colour. I have always wanted to do mine Gunmetal but SWMBO says NO.
It looks like the fittings for the chrome strips were filled, are you going chromeless?

This is a Mercedes color, Pewter Metallic no. 723(or was it 732) from a 2004 vehicle.

Yes, I wanted smoothed sides for my final look, stopped short of filling and hiding door openers. I want it to still look like a B, but a little more modern or just slightly different.
It reminds me of the color Mark Evans went with on An MG is Born. Nice color. Are you going to put in a red interior, like he did?

No, here again I'm going to be a little bit different. It will be a dark Navy Blue. Dark Navy Blue sunfast top, dark NB interior with a few panel accents in the same color as the body. Same with the seats. I hope it looks as good as I think it will. Have never seen this color combination, really dwelled on it and almost changed the body color many times. But decided to try it and see. Crossing my fingers that it will look halfway decent. Too much invested to change now!
Well Lloyd, it look fantastic! The navy Blue will look great with your body color. Please post more pics as you go!
Lloyd,
Check the pics. You'll just have to imagine the colours reversed.
Regards, Graham
Just curious......Would you be willing to say how much the whole shebang cost? I ask because I will be doing the same at some point....Was there a seperate price for blasting, body work, painting etc?
Thanks
Almost no body work, very little rust, nothing bigger than a door ding, body shop sanded, skim coated, sanded, repaired what needed, paint/clearcoat. This is an older shop, guy has been working on street-rods and older stuff most of his life. Not trying to get rich off anyone, very honest. Cost only $2000, but(there always is a but) I had removed everything I could, all trim, interior, windshield, door glass, dash, locks, handles, bumpers,....everything I could remove. He sprayed trunk and interior shell, not as nice as exterior, but I'm building a driver, not concours. I rebuilt everything else myself, engine, suspension,...etc.
If you wanted to, you could just add some late 60s Chrysler Corp side marker lamps. They were simple round chrome circles - and might be just about the size of those holes. You can see one on the rear quarter in this pic

Thought about something like that Joe. Was going to use the round marker lights on an Ford F350 dually rear fender wells. About the same size. Changed mind again. Sometimes I wish I could change my mind, someone elses must work more efficiently than the one I use.
Nice looking colour.
Hey Graham, where did you get those door panels?
Scott,
Sorry, I have no idea. Snagged it off here somewere.
Maybe the owner will chime in.
Here's another of the rest of the interior.
My 'B is dark blue & I really like the look of a grey / dark blue combo.
Maybe one day ...
Regards, Graham
Darn it Graham... I wish I had seen those door panel pockets before I did mine. I would most definately have added those to my panels.
Lloyd: the car looks super.
Thanks everyone, one day it might be complete. Well, as complete as a B can be.
It'll never be done. But it's sure gonna look sweet while you're enjoying it. That's really nice, Lloyd.
R.
Great color! It'll have some serious attitude when shes all back together.
I almost did a Nimbus grey (dark grey) when redoing my interior but it cost a little extra from prestige and the budget was already stretched thin. I wish I had gotten it now!
Those panels and interior pictures look like they are a kit from Prestige.
Somebody said "but I'm not a purist". Well sometimes I think I am, and I think a silver B with a blue interior looks great.
I built a Bugeye out of spare parts back in the late 70's and used the same color combo, and was proud to be riding.
Hang in, and have fun
I believe the pockets and bottom carpeting give the door panel away as being from Prestige Autotrim in UK..I know they offer many colors, including gray.

Relax fella....all you need is a small piece of duct tape, and you just cover them puppies up.....and it will match the paint. Nobody will every notice!
I'm glad to see others who dont care for exact original restorations. After all, we build these cars for ourselves (and they are not high priced collectibles) The color Is GREAT!! My next one will be similar, but I think I like the red interior. Great job Lioyd, keep us updated with photos. Probably be done next month? LOL
As Dan said - those are the Prestige door panels. Here they are in Light Bisquit with Autumn Leaf Carpet from my much missed 78.

Uh, Joe, looks like those side markers didn't work too well on that Dart you got there :D
PS - Graham the blue/gray combination is very nice. Saw an MGA at MG2006 last year IIRC, with dark blue paint and light gray interior. Looked splendid.

I wish, funds for the seats, dash, and interior panels will slow it down. Not to mention wife, time to work on it, .....
