Interesting the disparaging remark I got about Porter's book...most poeple rave about it. It makes me want to ask...what book (aside from the Haynes manual, obviously) would you not live without in your shop? I don't mean the history books ou read for general interest in the marque, but books that end up with greasy pages because you use them so much. Anyone?

i use the BENTLEY's books for service if they have them for what ever vehicle i work on... if the factory has one, then i use that particular one, along with the factory parts book ... even tho they cost a bit, it actually saves me in the long run..
I put Porter's book aside and used my Bently along with my Vickey B and Moss catalogs.
Besides the choices from those Johns, I also use Original MGB; "a picture is worth a thousand words" which is also why the Moss catalogue is so valuable.
Also, Practical Classics on the MGB.
I have one for all my cars, Vespa(Scooter, Mopeds), but I do not have one for the MGB..
I find myself using my "Bentley" even more than my "Haynes". I don't own a "Practicle Classics" yet. It will be the next addition to my library---I got "Bentley" on ebay for $23.20 incl shpg. Good Luck!
good source for all these books is www.britbooks.com
I checked prices against amazon, barnes & noble, etc. Brit books is much better! (Also a grat deal cheaper than the parts catalogs)
