Completed the shake-down runs with the alternator conversion, and I really like the results. All of the lights appear brighter at night, and no dimming during stop lights idling. It mounts with only one mod on my '74, I had to grind down the bottom sliding bracket to clear the fans on the pully. I could have used the old pulley, but the new one looked much better. Lifetime warranty also. I used the instructions from Skye's reference pages. I believe done by Bob Munchausen (spelling?). A buddy of mine did the GM conversion, using the instructions from the Teglerizer site..good stuff.

Glad it worked well for you, David. It can be a hard alternator to find, sometimes, but it is relatively trouble free (if you get a well rebuilt one ~ say one with a Lifetime warranty - the Autolite Rebuilts seem to be well done) and as you have seen fairly easy to install. I have had mine in operation for several years now and I am pleased. There are many worthy alternatives out there, many newer ones that are lighter and smaller. It is just finding them and then sharing that knowledge with others that spreads the benefits around, regardless of the brand chosen. Best of luck!
** I AGREE ! **
Did that last year and damn glad I did...
I had the same problem with the slider, so I used the one from the Fiesta I pulled the unit out of and it's a perfect fit.
Bob, thanks for the instructions. Without my DPO wiring challanges it would have been real easy..a 30 minute job.
I am fine, Gary! Hope all is well with you! I am in the midst of house hunting and remodelling and so, as you can imagine, that leaves little time for MGs. ;-) I am still around, and I still buzz by the BBSs now and then. This one is doing well, I am glad to see, and it is good to see familiar names like yours still posting. Cheers!
