Hi,
My lucas side entry distributor is in poor shape. Enough shaft play to open and close the points by leaning on the cam, and bit of body damage on the lip that holds it in the block.
There are bosch scorcher conversions available, still points dizzy for about the same price... any idea if these are worth looking at...
The dual point mallory is about twice the price and out of my range.

If its a 25D4 you can put in a new bushing, if the shaft is good. Moss has them for $56.95 US.
I think you can get rebuilt Lucas units at Autozone with a guarantee...........
Seems like I just heard about distributors at auto zone, for something dirt cheap, like 60 bucks.
rebuilt 25d with lifetime warranty is 60 bucks at autozone.com .. it's the a1-cardone.
I've heard the AutoZone units tend to come with "random" advance curves.... Functional, but sub-optimal. FWIW.
A1 Cardone is a good outfit and rebuilds all kinds of items for many different companies under their brand names too. You can buy their stuff with confidence.
Isn't Dick great?? I meat him a couple of times now at Chris Roop's!! According to Chris, he worked as a Ford mechanic for a few years!! So I think he has a pretty good handle on most things! Oh, I think he spent a bit of time in the US military too!! Anyway, he has a really nice '66 'B!! I just like the way he deals with any situation!! Keep on going Dick!! :o)
put in a petronic's electronic and coil system, finished business...
...but don't put the Petronic in a dizzy with worn out bushings or a bent shaft
I was wondering that!! Would it matter if the bushings were worn????? I really don't think so, but I don't know!!
It couldn't help. If the bushings are worn, they're just gonna get worse instead of better - whether you use points or electronics. Sooner or later, a wobbly dizzy shaft is gonna be trouble.
Besides, we know where new bushings are available...right Gerry??
