I have a 1975 MG Midget with the ugly black bumpers on it. Is there any after market that are nicer? I'm new and still tring to find places to buy parts.

hey eric! you can get a conversion kit to chrome bumpers! alot of people seem to take them off and go bumperless! if you do a search top right corner of the page; there are probs threads on this topic! someone will be along soon with the pros and cons of changing! alot of people on here have black bumpers and like them! if you have just got the car, keep them on a while till you get to know the car better, you may end up liking them!

oh and welcome! post a pic of your car so we can see the ugly little thing!::o hope mine isn't listening!

Another option that helps in my opinion is to paint the black bumpers to match the exterior color. If you plan to have the car painted in the future, something to think about.

Attached is a pic of a MGB with painted bumpers to give you an idea of how it would look.

I'm right down the road in Choctaw. PM me and we'll discuss what is involved with going bumperless. Retrofitting is a huge pain, but going bumperless is generally a breeze, but you need to do some metal cutting, welding, pounding, a bit of bondo, primer, paint, and you are golden. Your avatar thingy says MGB, but your asking about a Midget, so which is it? Anyway, several of us in this area and there is the OKC MG Car club, so you are not alone.

Just my opinion, but lowering a rubber bumper car back down from the Fed. requirement
does wonders for the appearance.

I saw a pic the other day of a rubber bumper baby like my 79 but they had put a spoiler under it and it looked really good . I will try to find the pic and post it. I was thinking of dropping mine but may reconsider .

Ric-

I would love to see that picture of the Midget with a spoiler. I've never seen one.

I have the pic but can't seem to add attachments to posting from iPhone, rats. You can check it out by going to www.British-cars.net/...Mgoc Spares front spoiler. If you get to the site use the search in the upper right .
