But it's not a Midget!!

Have you ever noticed that some people are just weird??

Today was a beautiful day here in Atlanta so I took my “MGB” out for a drive. I ended up in local park called, Stone Mountain. I had grabbed a sandwich on the way so I found a nice place to park by the lake and was sitting beside my car eating when a man walked up and started asking me about my car.

He seemed nice and “normal” and started saying it was a really pretty car, etc., and then he said that he always loved the “MG Midget”. Just in general talking I explained to him that it was not a Midget but a MGB. We happen to be standing behind the car and so I even pointed out the MGB emblem on the trunk or boot.

Suddenly the man got nasty and told me that I was wrong and that emblem was wrong and that he was an expert and this car is a Midget. He went on tell me how ignorant I was and that I should not even be allowed to drive a car like this if I did even know what it was.

I very politely but quickly said that I had to go meet someone and got in my car and drove off. The last thing I heard was this guy yelling, “It’s a Midget”.

Why do I always run into the weirdo’s??? Normally people you meet are nice and fairly normal, and I enjoy talking about my car, but this man was crazy.

So how was your day!!!???

LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Robert, that is a GREAT story! Sorry, but since I live in Atlanta, the fact that you ran into a weirdo here doesn't surprise me AT ALL!!!!!!! I'm still laughing, picturing you driving off with the crazy guy yelling "IT'S A MIDGET"!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks - I needed that!!!!! :D :D :D

Interesting...that is usually the first question I get from people:

Person: "Is it a Midget?"

Me: "No sir, it's a 'B"

Person: "Oh, that's right. Used to have one of those when I was younger!"

Me: "...really? Doesn't seem like it." (that would be my internal monologue)

Like the guy at the bone yard I watched ruin a hood by repeatedly trying to force it closed without releasing the catch. All the while telling me how he's always had "one or another of these" in his garage since he was a teen and bought his first brand new back in the mid eighties. He eventually gave up and left it open. That was sad it was a good hood.

Right like you own an MG for ANY length of time and forget they have a catch on the hood and trunk prop.

I have a local wierdo that lives up the street (owns a couple of MGs), and every time he sees me on my driveway, he insists on stopping to talk to me about the "Morris Minor" I have, and how he loves Morris Minors so much, and is trying to buy one. Every time, I tell him that mine is a Mini Cooper S, and that they are totally different cars....it never seems to get through to him, because every time he comes back, he says "How's the Morris Minor doing??!!".

At least your wierdo doesn't know where you live!!

At a local car show I stopped to talk to the owner of one of just two MGBs that were in amongst the Detroit iron. Seemingly ice guy, talked about the changes made to the car & the good mechanic he had found locally. He mentioned having installed relays so I asked to see. Just curious if they were Limey's or what. And then the guy couldn't figure out how to open the hood.......

This thread would have gone a completely different direction if I were involved.
