This is picture of the spare tire compartment in my 73 MGB GT. Can anyone tell me what the little T in the photo is .... or rather, what it should be connected to? Is there something that's missing that it should be connected to?

Thanks,
Mark

It is a vent... I believe the other end (Under the car) goes to the small fitting on the fuel pump.

Is it supposed to be connected to something?

It is not connected to anything inside the spare tire area. Just the way you see it is how it should look inside the vehicle.

Nope. I suppose the T is just to keep it from pulling through the grommet. If it were just vented at the pump under the car, it might get debris or moisture in the pump - that's why it's vented into the cockpit.

Mine has a tube running to the SU fuel pump vent.

Mark - See the article, SU Fuel Pump Vent in the SU Fuel Pump Articles of my web site at: http://homepages.donobi.net/sufuelpumps/ As the others state, the 'T fitting is just to keep the tube from pulling back through the grommet.

I am going to guess here and assume it vents the back side of the diaphragn and not any actual fuel fumes?

Yep. Fumes would be a really bad idea...
