Are there any two countries in the world that have more in common, and more similarity that Canada and the US?

Indonesia? - a republic made up of over 17,000 islands having many diverse languages, cultures and economies. Their motto is - "Bhinneka tunggal ika" ("Unity in Diversity" literally, "many, yet one")
In my opinion, Singapore and Malaysia have more in common with each other than the US and Canada have with each other. Singapore is a city state hanging off the Malaysian peninsula. It's an ex-British colony like Malaysia, and only came into being as a separate entity after secession from Malaysia 50 years ago or so. The colonial period resulted in both countries' unique (and bizarre) ethnic mix of Chinese, Indians and ethnic Malay (who are Muslim), although Singapore is strongly weighted towards Chinese. Actually, perhaps it's the fact they share this unique mix that makes me think the two countries are so similar. They share similar (the same) food, architecture, history and culture. Both countries are fairly draconian when it comes to the law and generally non-conventional behaviour (both Malaysia and Singapore used to refuse entry to men with long hair - although no longer enforced, I recall reading the visa regulations earlier this year for Malaysia and it still referred to "no hippies"!) The feel of both countries is similar, albeit with Singapore being cleaner and feeling more like a financial hub.
Of course, if there were a Singaporean here, no doubt they would shoot me down and say the countries were completely different - just as a Canadian is no doubt about to do to you!
Other candidates for more similar pairings could be: England/Wales, [southern] Germany/Austria, Lithuania/Latvia (all three of which share the same currency even), [north eastern] Thailand/Laos (same written language/some shared ethnicity).

Wasn't Ghingas Khan a gay dwarf? Meaner than a cross bred Tazmanian Devil and Wolvrine otherwise.
