I have run into a couple of places on the body of my 1600 where square head captive nuts are used. Some were missing or drilled out. Is there a source for them. Some were 1/4x28 and others were smaller. Thank you all again for all the help. Its coming along pretty good in spite of my efforts.

I can't promise but Todd Clarke at Clarke Spares and Restoration has most of the specialty hardware for MGAs.

McMaster-Carr has them in a variety of sizes. I just ordered a couple of boxes of 5/16-24s last week to replace a lot of rusted and missing ones on the front fender attachments. http://www.mcmaster.com/#weld-nuts/=4j4f0c They call them retainer nuts.

They should be fine threads for the MGA.
#10-32 - front valance, bottom of sill, shut face panel (inside door post), tunnel cover, heater & dash braces, boot & bonnet hinges, filler neck gasket to boot floor
1/4-28 - top frame mount (inside door post)
5/16-24 - forward bolts front wings.
3/8-24 - windscreen post to body
