Is it a straight swapover job?
Also, what would you reccommend as the best way of removing the armrest/gear surround plastic-y rubbish? Simply saw it of at the ribbed join between it and the centre console, then fashion some kind of blanking plate between the transmission tunnel and centre console?

Doesn't the console attach with only 1 screw in the back of the bin?
As long as you aren't talking about a metal dash, yes, it is a fairly easy swap, I just put a 76 dash in my 71.
The steel dash isn't easily installed, but it's been done before. You'll need to splice in some steel between the dashboard and windscreen.

With the dash, that chrome strip on the glove box is hard to get so don't let them sell you one without it.
actually, come to think of it, I don't think you need to add on the cowl. Unless it is an American car.
