hi.. would any one know what the size of the fitting is that attachs the metal clutchline to the rubber hose.. the fitting i am refering to is where the rubber hose passes thru a metal bracket on the body...i tried a 12mm and it is too large.. 11 mm was too small.. and the sae wrenches i had avail to me also did not fit..

i sized the fitting to the slave cylinder as 17 mm.. mine is weeping pretty good, and i brought one with me to san diego...

thanks

Mine were SAE Barney, I don't remember what size. They weren't anything unusual.

Use a 7/16 line wrench(6point)Or a 12mm 6point line wrench will work

I've got line wrenches, maybe that's why I didn't have any trouble I used my 7/16.

Thats a good size too, but you risk collapsing the flare nut. Maybe Robogrips, they have a lighter touch.

OK, I give up, WTH is a Knipex Cobra?? Sounds like something I need...

knipex makes two excellent gripping pliers. The Cobra was the one that came to mind, but there is a lower priced one called Alligator. They both grip exactly the same, but the Alligator is a little harder to adjust and costs about ten bucks less. They're about 12 or 13 dollars. Some hardware stores and a lot of auto parts houses have them, but not out in plain view as a rule. They're made in Germany and they are black with red plastic dipped handles. I've sold about 75 pairs of them without a complaint from even one customer. The ten inch model of either is all you need. The bigger ones are overkill for the average auto mechanic.

Yeah Barney, I found it. Alligators are The black ones they call water pump pliers #88 01 250. Them damned things WORK! Look at the pictures of them in use and you can see how they grip without crushing. I've never seen anything like them. I just wish I could do the demo for you guys that helped me sell them, you'd buy them too.
