Coil springs

Hi gang, I have new coil springs and noticed that there is line painted over the coils, top to bottom. Upon further inspection I noticed that the coils are bowed slightly in the direction of the line. Does this have some sort of significance? Or am I being overly critical here? Any insight would be appreciated. Thanks.
